The death angels visited the home of Mr. R.O. Woodlief in the Bobbitt Community and took from them their dear beloved father, Mr. Rufus C. Woodlief, on Thursday afternoon about 3:40 o’clock, May 28, 1925.
Brother Woodlief had been in bad health for several months, but was confined to his bed a little over five weeks before his death.
Mr. Woodlief was a member of Advance Baptist Church and he was a faithful member, always attended every service as long as he was able to go, also Sunday School too.
Mr. Woodlief was a good neighbor, always ready to do a Christian deed in his community.
Mr. Woodlief served awhile in the Civil War.
Mr. Woodlief was married to Miss Martha Perry in 1871 and she proceeded him to the grave about 12 months before his death.
Mr. Woodlief leaves to mourn their loss one brother, five children, Mr. R.R. Woodlief of Franklinton, Mrs. D.N. Nelens, Louisburg, M.D. and R.O Woodlief of Lawrenceville, Va., and J.L. Woodlief of Statesville, N.C., besides 21 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Woodlief will be missed in his community very much for he always had a smile and a pleasant word for every one whom met.
The funeral services were conducted at Advance Church and his body took to Perry Chapel Cemetery where it was laid to rest. Mr. Nelson of Henderson and Mr. Granitt, pastor of Advance and Mr. Usburgh of Wake Forest conducted the services.
A large crowd gather together to pay their respect to Brother Woodlief.
The floral tribute was beautiful and spoke loud for the number of friends he had.
The entire family has the sympathy of the entire community.
