For some time now the city water tanks have been practically empty. We do not know whether this is caused by a shortage of water or a shortage of power. In either case, something should be done about the matter. Should a serious fire occur in the business section of town at this time the fire department could do nothing except watch the town burn.
The town authorities request that the citizens use as little water as possible until the new pump is installed. It is earnestly hoped that water users will comply with this request. Otherwise, an ordinance will probably be necessary prohibiting people from using water on gardens, lawns, etc.
Has the water in the new well been tested as to its fitness for drinking purposes? This should be done before the water is pumped into the mains.

Pump on Road
The pump with 15 hose power motor to be used for pumping water from the new well was shipped by express from Indiana today. The pump should be here by Sunday. It will be put in place immediately and set to work supplying water for the town.
The shortage of water is now very serious, and the citizens of the town should not use a drop more than necessary until the new pump is installed. This pump should give Franklin an abundant supply of water.
