A fine of $150 and costs was the penalty for Charlie Garrett, Weeksville man who was found guilty this week in county court of selling liquor. A sentence of four months on the roads was suspended. Garett was arrested by Sheriff Carmine on evidence furnished by Clayton Jones, who was previously arrested for having liquor in his possession.

A young coon was captured on the Kramer mill property by Talmadge Twiford and Durwood Copeland Saturday night. Young things usually get caught when they go to the city alone.

The ruling of the school board which debarred rural children from the city schools, will be suspended for one year, to accommodate children living in the Weeksville and Newland districts.

Strong objection has arisen as to the routing of Pear Tree Road, which under present plans would pass by the farms of T.L. and C.E. Overman and running to Blounts Fork instead of following a direct course across the Ehringhaus & Small farm. Chairman S.G. Scott and Commissioners Meads and Sample are aligned on the project and another meeting may be held shortly to thresh out the dispute.

Early sweet potatoes are moving rapidly, and prices hold up well, there being only a slight drop this week. The season is not half over.
