Albemarle, July 23—Henry Troutman, chief of police of Albemarle, was placed under bond of $500 late today for his appearance in court in connection with the death of James Evans, negro, whom the officer is alleged to have shot when he resisted arrest, and who later died in a hospital where he was taken for treatment. A coroner’s inquest placed responsibility on the officer and recommended that he be placed under bond.
Evans is from Wadesboro.
