Demonstration of Star Car Shows It Running Cool as a Cucumber, July 23, 1926

Star Car Behaves Beautifully During Long Test

Running 40 consecutive hours in low gear, without a driver, the Star automobile demonstrated at Southern Pines last weekend excited considerable interest.

The guessing contest advertised was participated in by a large number, who attempted to estimate the number of miles covered and the amount of fuel and lubrication required.

Harry S. Vial, who staged the contest, announces the following as correct answers:

Miles—140

Gasoline used—16 gallons and 1 quart

Oil used—none

At the end of the grind the car was “as cool as a cucumber.”
