Return Telegraph and Telephone Lines. . . Atlantic Cables Also to Be Restored

Washington, April 29—President Wilson has approved
Postmaster General Burleson’s recommendation that the telegraph and telephone
systems be returned to their owners upon the enactment of legislation as may be
deemed necessary; also that American cable lines be restored to their owners
immediately.
This approval was announced in a cablegram received today by
Burleson, who yesterday stated that he hoped to return the cables by May 10.
