Tank, War Trophies To Arrive in Hickory April 24, 1919

From the Hickory Daily Record, April 22, 1919

Tank and Trophies Here This Week

Chairman J.D. Elliott has been notified that the American tank, a part of the Victory Liberty loan exhibit, will arrive in Hickory not later than midnight of the 23rd. This tank will remain in Hickory until the afternoon or evening of the 24th.

Another interesting feature of the campaign this week will be the arrival of a special train consisting of two flat cars, one baggage car, sleeper and dining car. This is known as the trophy train and will be filled with interesting trophies of the big war. Also, first class speakers will accompany the train. Hickory people will welcome the news that this train is under the charge of an old Hickory boy, Harry Little. This exhibit is scheduled to arrive in Hickory Thursday, April 24, at 8:25 p.m. and will leave Friday, April 25, at 7 a.m.

[I wonder if the times are correct. There won’t be much time for viewing.]
