Tribute to 120th Infantry That Paraded in Charlotte, April 17, 1919

From the editorial page of The Alamance Gleaner, Graham, N.C., April 17, 1919, J.D. Kernodle, Editor

Wednesday was Charlotte day and North Carolina day as well. Many thousands gathered there to do honor to the 120 Infantry, a regiment to whom the undying fame of breaking the unbreakable Hindenburg Line is ascribed. As the stalwart young heroes paraded, the throng looked on with feelings of awe and admiration, for they looked upon men who had been in the thick of deadly battle and came back alive, many of whom wore insignias that told of being wounded, not once, but several times. The sight of them was especially gratifying to North Carolinians, for most of them were North Carolinians. The large delegation that went from Alamance to see the soldiers parade was a deserved tribute to Col. Don. E. Scott of Graham, the commander of the regiment, and the other brave Alamance boys under his command.
