Murder Charges Against Jasper and Jesse Odom and Luther Cameron, June 3, 1921

Homicide Case in Cumberland Court. . . Three Defendants Charged With the Brutal Murder of Addison Hodge<>P> Fayetteville, June 1—Jasper and Jesse Odom and Luther Cameron will face trial in the Superior court here tomorrow morning for the murder of Addison Hodge, accounted one of the most brutal crimes committed in Cumberland county in recent years. Hodge was killed in a fight with the Odoms and Cameron that is said to have started when one of the Odoms made a jibe at the expense of Hodge and his deaf mule. The old man was terribly beaten and cut with various weapons, placed in his buggy and was found the next morning after the mule had wandered through the woods all night.

Solicitor S.B. McLean stated when bond was fixed in November that he intended to ask for a verdict of first degree murder.
