Thomas Byrd Witted Jr., son of Colonel and Mrs. T.B. Whitted, was one of the 246 young men who recently passed the entrance examinations for West Point, the United States military academy.
Other North Carolina boys making the West Point examination were George Patrick Lynch of La Grange; Samuel Seldon Lamb of Elizabeth City; Pierre Bacot Denson, Raleigh; Edwin B. Kernans Jr. , Winston-Salem; and John Campbell Palmer, Dunn.
