Mr. W.D. Brooks left Wednesday for Chapel Hill where he will have charge of a camp of prisoners who are engaged inbuilding the Durham-Chapel Hill highway. Mr. Brooks has been with Captain Rhem for 34 years except for about five years and has ?? toward for practically the whole of the entire term. Most of the time he has spent at the California Farm. When the state sold the ?? and moved the convicts here to work on the bridge. Mr. Brooks came with the outfit.
Captain Brook has won the esteem and confidence of the people here and his friends are glad the prison authorities have given him this promotion.
