Mary Sowers, 72, Died at Daughter's House, April 1, 1922

Mrs. Mary Sowers of Salisbury Dead

Salisbury, April 1—Mrs. Mary Sowers, aged 72, widow of the late Jesse Sowers, died today, Friday, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L.A. Kluttz, in this city. Mrs. Sowers had been in bad health for some time but was taken seriously ill several days ago.

The funeral took place this morning at 11 o’clock from the First Methodist Church, of which she had been a member for the past 25 years. The service was conducted by Rev. John F. Kirk, assisted by Rev. R.L. Lemons of the Baptist Church, and Rev. G.H.L. Lingle of the Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Sowers is survived by 12 children, 43 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The children are Charles, Frank and Buie Sowers of Salisbury, Baxter Sowers of Spencer, Fred Sowers of Linwood, Hugh Sowers of Asheville, Harry Sowers of Detroit, Mrs. J.D. Floyd, Mrs. L.A. Kluttz, Mrs. J.W Myers of Salisbury, Mrs. W.L. Loftin of Denison, Texas, and Mrs. F.H. Coebern of Talbert, Texas.
