A 70-gallon copper outfit, complete in every detail, with 2,000 gallons of beer and several gallons of low wine, was captured Monday of last week by District Prohibition Officer M. Allard Case near Locust Grove church in Hoopers Creek township, eight miles north of the city.
No arrests were made, Mr. Case stated, the law violators having learned of the presence of officers and “skipped.”
Mr. Case returned yesterday from Winston, where he attended the state meeting of prohibition agents. The attendance was good, he said. The chief topic was discussion of the 18th amendment and its enforcement, the general sentiment being that the law is being upheld better than ever before.
From the front page of The Hendersonville News, Tuesday, April 18, 1922. I don’t know why headline is M.L. Case when officer’s name is M. Allard Case.
