Engineer W.C. Davis of the Norfolk Southern Railway was fatally injured this morning about 4 o’clock when train No. 60 ran into a burning trestle near Willow Springs in Wake county. The engine and one car were derailed. Brakeman T.T. Jeffries and Arthur Leak, colored fireman, were slightly injured. Davis lived in Raleigh as do the injured men. The burning trestle could not be seen on account of a curve in the tracks. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
