W.H. Shannon, a colored farmer on R.F.D. 1 Weeksville, put the first shipment of May peas of the season thru Elizabeth City Tuesday of this week. There were six baskets, all of a good grade. They were shipped thru Spence-Hollowell Co., who are large shippers of May Peas from the Elizabeth City section. Spence-Hollowell Co. have strong connections on the Philadelphia, New York and Boston markets. Elsewhere in this newspaper they give a list of their connections and invite growers to try them for top market prices and quick returns.
