Charlotte, N.C., April 22—An American eagle, its wings measuring seven feet from tip to tip, was killed near here Friday afternoon by West Davis, a negro farmer, as the bird was circling a few yards over the head of Davis’ 3-year-old child, whose cries from the yard aroused the family.
From the front page of the Concord Daily Tribune, Saturday, April 22, 1922. The photo of the adult eagle is from Photos and Videos for Bald Eagle, All About Birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, an excellent site for identifying all sorts of birds found in the United States.
