Greensboro Restrictions on Pool Rooms, June 15, 1922

Pool Rooms Placed Under Restriction

One a four to two vote the city council Tuesday passed a resolution placing restriction on the operation of pool rooms in the city.

Mayor Claude Kiser, David White, George A. Grimsley and Frank Brooks voted in favor of the resolution, and E.J. Mendenhall and R.G. Hiatt voted against it. They opposed granting licenses under any condition. The seventh member of the council, Julian Price, was not present, but it was understood that he favors granting licenses under restriction.

All pool rooms must be located on the ground floor with unscreened glass doors and windows and without rear or side entrances. The location must be approved by the city council, and no other business may be conducted in connection with it. Also licenses are subject to immediate revocation for the violation of any provision in the ordinance.
