Drive Against Gaston Bootleggers

Gastonia, June 15—Some of the biggest hauls made in this vicinity in some months against bootleggers have taken place during the past weeks. Numerous arrests have been made by Federal Prohibition Officer Evon L. Houser.

Stacy Millinax, a farmer of Gaston county, was arrested Tuesday with 19 gallons of liquor in his possession. He was taken before United States Commissioner S.S. Morris, who released him under a $500 cash bond.

Archie Robinson, a one-armed white man living in Gastonia, was found with 11 gallons in his automobile. His bond was fixed at $500 for appearance on June 20.

Three young white men were given preliminary hearings before Commissioner Morris on charges of violating the Federal Prohibition laws. They waived examination and were bound over to the October term of Federal Court, their bonds being fixed at $200 in each case. All cases will be brought up for trial at the October term of Federal Court in Charlotte.
