'Waterlily' Oil Boat Sinks in Dismal Swamp Canal, April 6, 1923

Oil Boat Sinks Thursday in Dismal Swamp Canal

Reports reached this city Thursday to the effect that the oil boat “Waterlily” of the Texas Company tipped over and sank early in the morning, about five miles below the locks of the Dismal Swamp at Deep Creek, Va. The reports had it that nobody was hurt. The Waterlily was heavily loaded with oil and when she tipped to one side, water ran in and sank the boat, it is said. A crew from here went up Thursday to bring her to this city.
