Arrest Made in Rocky Mount Murder of W.S. Biggles, July 6, 1923

Arrest Made in Rocky Mt. Class

Rocky Mount—Officers here are certain that they have one of two negroes who killed W.S. Biggles, and seriously wounded W.W. Andrews, proprietor of a store. The two men were closing up for the night when the two negroes, said to have been loitering in the store, opened fire on them. After finding the cash drawer, the negroes made their getaway, supposedly on a passing freight train.

Feeling ran high and posses of citizens joined officers in the search which extended for many miles.
