Alathenian Literary Society Initiates, Oct. 11, 1923

Initiation of Alathenian Literary Society

On Saturday evening, September 29, the Alathenian Society held its annual initiation ceremonies.

One of the most important features of the initiation was a banquet. The hall was decorated with white roses and zinnias, and the color scheme of gold and white was effectively carried out. The banquet consisted of four courses, the first of which was fruit cocktail; the second, a cold meat course; the third, cream and cake; and the fourth café noir and mints. Those serving were Myra Benthall, chief marshal, and her assistants, who were Moella Askew and Adalia Futrell.

Those initiated were: Florence Barclay, Pearl Bryant, Penelope Brown, Mary Brumsey, Gladys Clary, Ethel Edwards, Lois Essex, Ada Harrell, Goldie Harrell, Helen Jones, Christine Lawrence, Dorothy Long, Ida Mae Martin, Ruby Mitchell, Camilla Manson, Mrs. W.K. McLean, Edith Oakley, Mildred Parker, Mildred Riggs, Eloise Riggs, Gertrude Snipes, Ethleen Vick, Jannie Ward.
