Confederate Monument Dedicated Oct. 23, 1923

The 29-foot-tall Confederate monument at Holly Springs, dedicated Oct. 23, 1923, depicts a uniformed infantryman, at parade rest, standing atop a long square column. Behind his proper right leg is a tree stump. The wide base has three levels. On the front of the column is a bronze plaque. The monument honors Wake County veterans from the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and World War I. Inscription, Front face:
