Concord Boy Wins Spelling Contest

Edgar Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Russell, of this city, won the boys’ prize in the spelling contest held in Charlotte Friday night in connection with the South Piedmont District Teachers’ Conference. The announcement of the Concord boy’s victory was made today in the following telegram from Prof. Webb to The Tribune:

“Edgar Russell beats all boys in district spelling contest.”

Edgar is a student in the seventh grade of the local grammar school and won the right to represent the Concord schools after a bitter contest with several other students.
