Albemarle Senior Class Presents 'Jimmie's Aunt Jane', May 1924

Jimmie’s Aunt Jane

The Senior class of the Albemarle High School on Friday night, May 9, rendered very creditably “Jimmie’s Aunt Jane,” an interesting and delightful farce comedy, at the school auditorium. There was a large crowd, so large that about a hundred were forced to stand throughout the performance.

The setting was Bexley, a college town, and the play opened in the “setting” room of Ma Bagsby’s boarding house. Ma and Scotch MacAllister were trying to wake Jimmie, to whose larks they had become accustomed.

Next on the scene appeared Betsy King as Mrs. Senacharib Popp, Sam Horton as Professor Popp, and Robert Patterson as Major Kilpepper to get revenge on Jimmie, whom they thought had kissed Cleopatra the night before. Jimmie denied this, saying that he had been with his aunt Jane of Wall Street, New York.

They leave the matter to be investigates. Jimmie is desperate. He was not with Aunt Jane and he tries to produce one. Three of his friends felt sorry for him and dressed up as Aunt Jane. After Major Kilpepper had proposed to Arthur Harris (one of the widows) whom he thought to be Miss Cavendish, Aunt Jane really does appear and mix things up.

After a successful football game, satisfactory explanations are made to the Major, Professor and Mrs. Popp. The play closed with all problems settled and everybody happy.
