Five members of Chief A.L. Lancaster’s crew of gallant fire ladies departed this afternoon for High Point to attend the State Firemen’s Convention as representatives of the local fire department.
The members of the local company who left today are: Guy Bullock, Bruce Poole, Tom Noe, Russell Griffin and Ed Davis, all of whom are expected to show the Upstarters that Wilson, the biggest town in the world, has the best crew of firefighters in the state.
Following the convention, which convenes tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock, the annual tournament will be staged on Thursday with many interesting events being arranged. The tournament, which carries with it the State Championship, is expected to be closely contested.
