Sheriff Brooks has made a good start and serves notice that all blockaders must get out.
Last Wednesday, he with his deputy, Radford Gentry and S.A. Oliver, captured a still near Hoges Mountain.
On Sunday morning they made a raid down in Allensville township near the home of Richmond Day and captured a still, 25 gallons of whiskey and George Webb, colored.
Sunday night they got another still and the complete outfit and destroyed 500 gallons of beer.
For his first week in office we think this is a pretty good record, as all will admit.
