Chadbourn and the surrounding community have lost one of the most progressive citizens with the passing of Mr. D.C. Clark.
For a period of 12 years Mr. Clark has labored faithfully in the upbuilding of the town which he made his residence. As cashier and ultimately president of the Bank of Chadbourn he has been a friend to hundreds who learn of his demise with a sense of keen regret. As a banker, he was honest and broad-minded, and when he was able to serve his surrounding country without hurts to the institution at which he was the head, he never failed to do so. Although an apt successor may be obtained, the place filled by Mr. Clark, and the connection he has held since the bank was established, will not be easily taken.
The people of the county, knowing Mr. Clark for the gentleman which he was, mourn with his widow and daughter in their distinct loss and hope that they may find comfort in the fact that he was spared as long as he was to do the work which was for the help and benefit of the hundreds of people whom he loved, and who loved him.
