Planters, Union, Riverside Warehouses to Handle Louisburg Tobacco Market, July 3, 1925

Three Open Warehouses. . . For Louisburg Market This Season. . . Planters, Union and Riverside to be Operated as Auction Houses—Arranging to Make Louisburg One of Big Markets

Arrangements are now being made to put the Louisburg Tobacco Market in the class with the big markets in the State this season. Already preparations have been made whereby all three tobacco warehouses will be operated as Auction Warehouses and the management of each one represents a strong personnel that will ensure Louisburg selling a big lot of the wee. It is aimed to sell tobacco a little higher here than anywhere else and in addition furnish more accommodations. The whole town Is going to line up behind the Market and make all things interesting and profitable to the growers.

The Planters Warehouse will be operated by Messrs. D.T. Currin and S.S. Meadows, men who are well known to the tobacco growers of this vicinity, as warehousemen of exceptional ability.

The Union Warehouse was leased by Messrs. Lumpkins and Perry. Since Mr. Lumpkins’ death we understand Mr. Perry will have associated with him Mr. F.A. Cheatham. This will combine the two former popular tobacco warehouse interests of Youngsville and will make a strong firm for Louisburg. They know the work and are well known in a large portion of adjoining territory.

The Riverside Warehouse will be operated by Mr. R.W. Hutchins of Reidsville, who we learn, is a veteran warehouseman of wide knowledge and experience and ample backing, and he expects to bring the Riverside back to its former popularity.

In addition, a full corps of buyers will be on hand and a live Market is to be inaugurated. The opening date has been set for Tuesday, September 15th, 1925, and it is contemplated to celebrate the opening with one of the biggest sales in the history of the market.
