Forest City, R-1, Aug. 12—A revival meeting began at Mt. Pleasant Baptist church on last Wednesday evening. The pastor, Rev. Buchanan has been preaching some splendid sermons and much good is being accomplished. The singing, which is being led by Mr. Ray, is fine too. You can’t afford to miss these services at 10:30 in the morning and at 7:30 at night. Everybody is welcome.

Mrs. B. Bryant of Spartanburg spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. J.R. McDaniel.

Misses Reba and Merle Price spent the week-end in Lawndale, visiting their uncle, Rev. J.V. Devinney.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Harrill on Aug. 8 at the Rutherfordton hospital, a fine girl, Rebecca.

A large number of parents met at Mt. Pleasant school house on last Friday afternoon for the purpose of organizing a Parent-Teacher Association. A program was given by the school, after which Capt. B.L. Smith of Spindale made a splendid talk on the importance of the P.T.A. The officers elected were as follows: President, Mrs. J.D. Smith; vice president, Mrs. J.W. Matheny; and secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Max Smith. At this first meeting 18 members were enrolled. The next meeting will be on Friday afternoon, September 4, at 2:30 o’clock. Parents and teachers, let’s co-operate and make this organization worth while. If you are interested in the welfare of your children or your neighbor’s children, don’t fail to meet with us Sept. 4th.

Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Smith, Mrs. David Early and Messrs. Wilbur and Daniel Smith spent Monday in Rutherfordton visiting Mrs. Smith’s sister, Mrs. J.C. Cowan.

Mrs. A.V. Hamrick had as her guest Sunday night her niece, Mrs. Bernice Beam of Shelby. Mrs. Beam was accompanied by Miss Kathleen Wilson.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harris of Atlanta, Ga., are visiting Mrs. Harris’ sister, Mrs. A.V. Hamrick, this week.

A party consisting of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Morgan and family, Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Hamrick and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harris of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Horace Vickers and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Williams, Miss Kathleen Wilson and Mrs. Beam of Shelby spent last Sunday at Lake Lanier.

Messrs. A.V. Hamrick and Ben Harris with a party, whose names the writer failed to get, went to Bridgewater last Tuesday.

Miss Mae Young spent last weekend at her home.

Mr. Glen Hamrick has accepted a position with the South Carolina State Highway Commission and is now at work at Spartanburg.

We’re glad to say that Mrs. Charlie Jones, who has been sick for the past two weeks, is improving.

Mr. W.W. Hicks of Eufaula, Alabama, visiting his sister, Mrs. J.R. McDaniel, last Tuesday night.

Miss Flora Matheny spent last Sunday with Miss Dorothy McDaniel.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ferree were in Saluda Sunday.

Miss Ida Cannon of Charlotte is spending her vacation at the home of her sister, Mrs. J.S. Morgan.
