Charlotte, Oct. 15 (AP)—Seated in front of a plate glass mirror in a local hotel, C. H. Blacknall of Greensboro shot and killed himself today. Ill health and financial worries were the cause ascribed by relatives for the deed.
Blacknall was about 35 (55?) years old. He was employed by the Progressive Farmer of Raleigh as a traveling representative. He came here about three weeks ago and lived for a time with his brother-in-law, R. W. Ballard, but two days ago moved to the hotel.
The body was discovered by a maid when she inspected the room. Life was extinct when the manager of the hotel and a physician called by the maid arrived.
Ballard told the police that Blacknall’s father, O. W. Blacknall, former owner of the Continental Plant Co. of Kitrell, in 1916 shot and killed himself, his wife and a daughter. Since that time, he said C.H. Blacknall had been on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
He said that Blacknall had been worried by financial affairs and also brooded over the actof his father.
The dead man left no notes.
