Mrs. R. D. W. Connor outlined the plans of the North Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs at a luncheon of the Women’s Club in Winston-Salem last week. She named five measures which the federation was supporting:
--The Australian ballot;
--The establishment of a farm colony for women offenders beyond the age-limit fixed at Samarcand;
--The taking over and the support of the reformatory for negro girls at Efland;
--A two-weeks’ notice of marriage; and
--Reduction of the hours of labor for children under 16.
Mrs. Connor laid emphasis upon the duty of women to use the ballot. She endorsed the movement for an eight-months’ school term.
