George Toms, student in the University and son of Clinton W. Toms of New York and Durham, was instantly killed early last Sunday morning when the car which he was driving ran off the road between here and Durham. He and Jack Cobb, having taken some Durham girls home from a Saturday night dance, were on their way back to the village. Mr. Cobb was asleep and knew nothing of what had occurred until he was waked by being thrown out. He said afterward that he thought his companion, at the wheel, must have dropped asleep. The ccar left the road on the right, and Mr. Toms was crushed under it.
