Despite Horrible Hunting Accident, W.J. Albritton Is Alive, 1918

“A Terrible Accident, Yet He Lives,” from the Daily Times Record, Wilson, N.C., Sept. 23, 1918

Notwithstanding the fact that while hunting at his home near Stantonsburg last Wednesday, Mr. W.J. Albritton happened to a very serious accident when the barrel of his gun exploded and a piece of same entered his skull exposing some of his brain and two or three tablespoonfuls came therefrom. He was brought to a local hospital and an operation performed which removed the piece of barrel from the inside of the skull. Must to the surprise of every one Mr. Albritton is still living and is conscious and there is every indication that he will recover.
