Mayor Killette, Chief Dickens, and Fire Chief Lancaster were off on a squirrel hunt yesterday.
Messrs. James Davis and Sam Lovelace are back from the training camp at Plattsburg where they have been all summer.
Mr. Drexel Barrett, who has been on a submarine chaser at Charleston, is home for a few days.
Mrs. Walter Woodard and Mrs. Edward Woodard are in Raleigh attending the United War Work Conference.
Mr. J.F. Brown of Macclesfield was in the city today.
Mr. A.J. Lamm of Lucama was here today on business.
Rev. Dr. and Mrs. H.W. McLaughlin of Virginia are visiting at the Presbyterian Manse.
Mr. W.A. Goodson of Goldsboro will arrived tonight to spend the week-end with his family at Mrs. J.C. Hales.
