Wilson County Honors Dewey Adams, Fallen in Battle, 1918

“In Memory of Dewey Adams,” from the Daily Times, Wilson, N.C., Sept. 14, 1918

The Brave Young Wilson Lad Who Fell August 5th

Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock the people of Wilson county will meet at New Hope church in Taylor’s township, northwest of Wilson, and honor the memory of Dewey Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Adams where fitting memorial services will be held in memory of the man who left home and family and friends and crossed to the other side that America might be free from the invasion of the savage Hun who would spread his “Kultur” brutality, lack of character, regard for right and all the meanness that the world has come to represent.

The people of Wilson county we are sure will attend this meeting and pay just tribute to the memory of the man who died for them.

The services will be presided over by Rev. W.O. Biggs of Elm City, pastor of the church. The membership of the young man is here.

His parents are members of the Free Will Baptist church and Rev. G.W. Ferrell will also have a part in the services.

An address will also be delivered by Mr. W.A. Lucas, a prominent lawyer of this city and memorial committeeman for Wilson township.
