Jim Anderson in London Hospital, Leg Is Healing, 1918

“Mr. Jim Anderson in a Hospital,” from the Wilson Times, Sept. 24, 1918
Mr. Jim Anderson of this city, a member of Company K, is now in a hospital in London suffering from the wound which was made by a piece of shell. This missile passed through his leg and scraped the bone and may require some time to heal.
He writes his parents that he will not be able to return to the trenches for some time to come.
The statement about the cigarette case having prevented him from receiving a bad wound was true in a measure. It probably deflected the piece of shell so that his leg will be saved and probably his life, but it did not stop the piece of metal as was generally supposed.
