150 Cases of Flu South of Hickory, Jan. 8, 1919

From the Hickory Daily Record, January 8, 1919

Spanish Influenza Severe South of Hickory

Spanish influenza, which made two severe calls in Hickory, but which is now subsiding, has struck the section south of the city and there are probably 150 cases just a few miles from here, according to Mr. L.G. Ellis who was a caller at the Record office today. Neighbors are rendering all the service possible, but in many cases most members of every household are down with the disease. Ten members of Mr. C.L. Brannock’s family have the disease.
