Purely Personal

Miss Emily Morton, who is down with the “flu” is still quite sick though convalescent.

Dr. A.F. Williams, who has been suffering from a light case of flu, is up and out again, his friends will be pleased to learn.

Mr. Joseph B. Thorpe of Greensboro, who is just back from France, was here yesterday.

Misses Hadly Woodard, Margaret Watson, Jessie Burden and Mary Ford Finch left this morning for Randolph-Macon Woman’s College at Lynchburg, Va.

Miss Nita Woodard of Whitakers is visiting Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Brown.

Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Yowell of St. Louis have located in this city.

Mr. Nathan Bass of Lucama was here today.

Mr. E.J. Barnes returned from Clinton today.

Misses Mary Hadley and Elizabeth Connor, Alice Watson, Elizabeth Griffin, Nannie Raper, Aylmer Gray Deans, Lalla R. and Alice Herring Fleming left this morning for Salem College.

To Attend Funeral

Mr. A.L. Darden left last night for Norfolk to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law, Mr. Jack Holden, whose death occurred yesterday morning at 9 o’clock in Salem, Va. He leaves a wife (nee) Miss Nannie Darden, and one little girl.

Improving

Mr. William Woodard is improving and his wife, who is in the hospital, is getting along as well as could be expected following an operation at a local hospital. Mr. Woodard is better following a transfusion of blood given him at home recently. Heretofore the treatment has been in Baltimore but this time in Wilson.

Mrs. Albert Anderson of Raleigh is with her father.

Greatly Improved

Mr. William Walls, who has been away for treatment, has returned greatly improved, his many friends will be pleased to hear.

Her Father Better

Mrs. W.A. Lucas, who left Monday for Southern Florida, called there by the desperate illness of her father, Mr. J.N. Jennings, has telegraphed Mr. Lucas that her father is much better.
