HENRY SHUTE

Monroe, Feb. 19—The funeral of Mr. Henry Shute was held Friday afternoon at the Shute residence. Dr. C.C. Wearn, pastor of Central Methodist church, and Rev. J.E. Abernethy of Salisbury, a former pastor very much beloved by the deceased, officiated.

Mr. Shute has been ill for several months and had been in a Charlotte hospital for treatment for several weeks. He died in Charlotte Thursday morning at 2 o’clock. He was nearly 70 years old and by energy, good judgment and square dealing had accumulated an estate valued at $300,000. He was born in Lancaster county, S.C., but moved ot Monroe when only a small boy. Mr. Shute never married. He is survived by two borthers, Messrs. J.R. Shute and J.T. Shute, of Monroe, and the following sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Brena, Mrs. Ellie Wilson, Miss Emma Shutt of Monroe, and Mrs. F. Houston of Charlotte. The pall-bearers were: Active: Messrs. F.G. Henderson, M.K. Lee, E.C. Winchester, C.C. Sikes, M.C. Long, S.O. Blair; honorary: B.C. Ashcraft, D.W. Flow, John Correll, J.D. McRae, John Griffith, W.M. Gordon, C.B. Caldwell and T.P. Dillon.

JOHN M. McKENZIE

John M. McKenzie, 37, died at a sanatorium at Southern Pines Friday at 6 o’clock.

The body will be brought to Charlotte Saturday night, and the funeral services will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the home of his brother, W.W. McKenzie, 822 North Church street. Interment will be at the Elmwood cemetery.

Mr. McKenzie was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.M. McKenzie of Charlotte, and had spent his entire life here and in Monroe.

He is survived by four sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. A.S. Mostellar of Charlotte; Mrs. John Beatty of Monroe; Mrs. R.B. Hill and Miss Lillie McKenzie of Hamlet. The brothers are P.C. and W.W. McKenzie, both of Charlotte.

CATHERINE DALE

Catherine Dale, 5-year-old daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J.G. Dale, missionaries of the Associated Reformed Presbyterian church in Tampico, Mexico, died in Tampico a few days ago, according to information received by friends of Mr. and Mrs. Dale here.

Mr. Dale was for many years a missionary of the A.R.P. church at Rio Verde, Mexico, and remained there until the revolutionary conditions in Mexico forced all missionaries out. He and Mrs. Dale went back to Mexico, this time to Tampico, as successors to the late Dr. Neill E. Pressly.

Mrs. Dale, prior to her marriage was Dr. Kate Neal, a native of Troy, S.C., a daughter of Dr. J.C. Neal of that place. She is a cousin of Dr. George W. Pressly of Charlotte and a brother of Dr. W.P. Neal of Greenwood, S.C. She was a medical missionary in Mexico a number of years before her marriage to Mr. Dale and has a sister who is a missionary in India.

No details were contained in the telegram announcing the death of the little child.
