Raleigh, Feb. 12—Despite Governor Morrison’s refusal to join the Ku Klux Klan and his threat to use the law against secret organizations of its character, Supreme Wizard W.J. Simmons of Georgia and other prominent men in the order are expected here next week to present the principles of the Klan to Governor Morrison and the general assembly. Governor Morrison denied today that he had withdrawn his statement made some weeks ago in which he declared he assailed the Klan as a lawless organization.
The organizing of the Klan in the state became active on the retirement of Governor Bickett, who smothered the first effort to organize.
Governor Morrison in attacking the Klansmen admitted that he had worn red shirts in the old days of negro suffrage but he did this open daylight.
It is understood the organizers will make their statement of the case next week.
