Concrete Steamer Is Built at Wilmington

Wilmington, Aug. 6—The General Morgan Lewis, 600-ton river concrete steamer, constructed by the Newport Shipbuilding Corporation here, for the War Department, was launched this morning at 11:30 o’clock. Miss Eliza Davis, granddaughter of the late George H. Davis, attorney general of the Confederate States of America, christened the ship. A 3,500-ton concrete tanker will be launched at the Newport yard August 2 and two other tankers will follow during the next few months, all of the ships being built for the War Department.
