Attorney J. Frank Hackler returned to the city Sunday from Sparta, where he appeared for the prosecution in the preliminary hearing of the case in which Duke Bledsoe and Shelly Moxley, white men, are charged with the murder of Tommie Wagner, about 10 days ago. Both defendants were ordered held for superior court under bonds of $5,000 each.

Wagner, a jitney driver, disappeared from the community one evening and the next day his body was found in a mill pond near Sparta. The two defendants were seen with him during the afternoon before his disappearance, and because of this and certain other circumstances, were arrested and charged with the killing.
