Running four hours and 14 minutes late, the 6:20 east bound train arrived in the city last night at 10:35. This brings fresh evidence of the seriousness of the railroad strike which is increasing every day. The cause of the loss of time by the train could not be learned last night but it was thought that it was because of engine trouble. The other trains coming into the city during the day were practically one time.
That the rolling stock of all railroads is in a bad condition is admitted by railroad men. Efforts are being made by the roads to keep their stock in good condition but this is practically impossible with the inexperienced men on the job. From the Durham Morning Herald, Aug. 20, 1922
