We are requested by a constable in one of the rural districts to warn unto drivers that he intends to make war on speed cranks who step on the gas heavier than the lawful limit. He promises to arrest fast drivers, regardless of who they are. This is a step in the right direction. We hope other officers will follow suit. We have almost reached the point where it will be necessary for people to carry guns to protect themselves from the reckless drivers who care nothing for their own lives or the life of others. A man who is run down by one of these speed-crazy fools would be justified in shooting him down as though he were a mad dog or a wild beast. Let us try to enforce the speed laws before an outraged people take the law into their own hand.
