Wilmington, Jan. 18—Mrs. Lizzie Greer, on trial here for aiding her elderly husband in two criminal assaults upon young girls, is perhaps the first woman to be tried on such a charge in the State. The case is a capital one.

Fire at Fayetteville

Fayetteville, Jan. 18—Fire that destroyed three buildings in the downtown district here threatened the whole section. The damage was between $5,000 and $10,000.

To Be Awarded Medal

Scotland Neck, Jan. 18—Thomas Brown of this town, who attempted to save a boy from drowning at a Virginia point, will be awarded a bronze Carnegie medal.

15 Houses Burned

Statesville, Jan. 15—Fifteen small houses were burned here yesterday, with a loss of $35,000.
