At the Western County Poultry show held at Asheville, January 10-12, 1923, the boys from the Waynesville Vocational school who made entries captured a good number of the principal prizes offered.
The birds exhibited by the trainees made a splendid showing, and compared favorably and in many instances surpassed in quality the entries from other portions of the State and adjourning states.
Below is given a list of the prize winners:
P.H. Duncan, first prize on Light Brahma cockerel.
H.J. Eastman, first prize on pen of Silver Spangled Hamburgs.
Wm. Kelly, first prize on white Leghorn cockerel.
A.J. Davis, first prize on White Minorca cock.
Fred A. Ferguson won first and second prizes on a pen of Barred Rocks.
O.L. Berry, won first and second prizes on an entry of Brown Leghorn pullets.
In addition to the above prizes, the following named men were awarded special prizes on their birds: Wm. Kelly, P.H. Duncan and O.L. Berry.
Instructors and students alike feel highly gratified with the splendid showing made by the birds exhibited by the school.
