Among the Sick at Haywood County Hospital, July 9, 1923

Haywood County Hospital

In the weekly call at the Haywood County Hospital we find among the recent arrivals Mr. Walter Pressley of Canton who underwent a very serious operating in having a bullet removed from his skull just back of his ear. His condition now seems to be favorable.

Mr. Charlie Palmer was taken violently ill Saturday with appendicitis. He was operated on late Saturday afternoon and his condition is now satisfactory.

Also, little Ralph Carver from Hemphill was brought to the hospital Sunday with an extensive osteo-myelitis on his right leg. He was operated upon Sunday and is much more comfortable today.

From the front page of the Carolina Mountaineer, Monday, July 9, 1923. Osteomyelitis is an infection in the bone caused by bacteria or fungi. Common symptoms include fever, swelling, pain and redness around the infected area.
