Statesville, March 18—A wooden (line obscured) it 20 gallons of whiskey and 70 gallons of beer was captured Saturday morning about 5 o’clock by Deputy Sheriff O.G. Sills and Mr. Fred Yorke in Union Grove church. the whiskey was poured out at Harmony, the beer being poured out at the still site. The still was destroyed.
The plant was in operation when the officers arrived, and three men were on the point of breakfasting on the contents of a tin pail. The officers were within 50 yards when detected. The men took to their heels and escaped.
