Further damage done in the hail storm of Friday afternoon which visited several sections of Durham county was reported Saturday by residents of various sections of the county. The damage done was more widespread than was reported Friday night.
Cotton and fruit was destroyed in the Fayetteville road section, according to J.E. Johnson, of route No. 3, who visited the city Saturday. His crop of cotton was badly hurt by the hail as was his fruit crop.
The Berea church was badly damaged, it was reported, with every window in the building damaged. Windows were broken in houses throughout the community and other damage was done.
Damage done in other sections was also reported as bad. Reports from all sections visited by the hail storm were to the effect that the hail stones were the largest seen in the remembrance of the oldest inhabitants.
