Wilmington, N.C., July 18—Disposing of an estate valued at approximately $1 million, the will of the late Dr. James Sprunt, president of the cotton exporting firm of Alexander Sprunt and Son, was filed for probate here today. The will mentioned only relatives of the deceased. it was stated, however, that Dr. Sprunt had made liberal provisions for charities in trust funds established before his death and that these would be administered by trustees as heretofore. They were not mentioned in the will, having passed out of Dr. Sprunt’s possession when the deeds establishing the funds were executed, it was stated. In addition to these trust funds were said to provide for a large number of friends and dependents not mentioned in the will filed today.
The property disposed of by the will consisted of stock in the cotton exporting firm of which he was head and the residue real and person was left to his son, James L. Sprunt.
The death of Dr. Sprunt was said to have released an estate of several million dollars left by his wife at her death but in which he had a lifetime interest.
